After a family trip to China took a dramatic turn, a girl from Gloletrotting took Reddit to share her side of the story.
In the popular R/Amithea-Hole, the 17-year-old explained that his family was traveling to China to visit the family, and due to conflicting programs, his original poster and his mother flew in front of his 14-year-old sister and father, who were left behind so that the sister could go to a summer camp.
The family was planning to fly the same flight.
“My father decided to use all his frequent flyer points to update him and my sister in the premium economy on the way (12 hours) and the business class on his return (14 hours),” he wrote.
“He sent a message after he did it to the family group chat without anyone.”
The teenager elaborated, saying that his mother responded to the group’s chat, asking him if he should also use his points for an update, but made it clear that his 17-year-old daughter would be sitting alone in economics on the long-distance flight.
“I know this sounds very unpleasant, but I do not care to be in economics and I am happy that we come to vacation,” he said, but the point is still: no one asked or considered it.
Finally, the mother took place, but because she did not have enough flying points to update them in the business class, the airline would not allow only one ticket to be updated, according to the poster, the mother-dusted duo landed in premium economics at home.
“I tried to confront my parents about it. I asked how they could do this without even trying to find a fair solution,” he said, further the situation.

“My father only told me that life is not fair. My mother said I am selfish and the hole for not being happy for them for being in business class …”
From there, the argument was heated.
“I told them that it is a bad parenting to give -much more to another child, and only to say that the other child should be happy because of it,” he explained in his place. He also mentioned that his sister agreed with her and said that his parents’ actions were simply rude.
He also acknowledged that he did not contribute to the purchase: tickets were bought with parents’ money, which gives them the right to update, but he was annoyed because of how she and her sister were treated differently, especially when there were still solutions to be explored.
After many squads, the family fell into a decision. The sister changed her seat to the flight home, making her fairer among the sisters.
Although the lack of forecasting and consideration by his parents was still frustrating, the original poster was grateful for his sister’s support.
“I am happy that my sister would stand in my face, which she knew I would, because she would have done the same thing for her,” she concluded.
Although the girl’s sister went through her in the end, the Internet still had mixed feelings.
“There are times when things like age should have some support and feel that the older brother should get the benefit of the updated privileges,” a user responded.
Another commentator was concerned about poster safety. “Yes, there is no way to leave my teenage daughter alone on a flight,” they said.
This specific feeling caused some criticism, with a single user: “He is 17 years old, about to be legal adult and on a plane. It is probably the safest place to leave the sole …”
Another user verbally attacked the original poster. “Yes, [you’re the a–hole] And a spoiled in this regard. You complain that your mother was just going to update -then trying to look reasonable, saying it would be fine if the parents had just improved. You got a trip to China, be happy for it. “”
