Sugai shared that the two symptoms could be signs of basal cell carcinoma (BCC), the most common type of cancer. According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, about 3.6 million Americans are diagnosed with BCC each year.
As the name implies, this skin cancer begins in basal cells, which produce new skin cells as the old ones die, according to the Mayo clinic.
“They are diagnosed every day and I treat them surgically every day,” said Sugai.
The BCC develops “tree-like blood vessels” to help their growth, making them especially prone to hemorrhage.
The BCC can manifest itself as a thorny that does not appear to be healing, a bright and skin, a white or wax injury, a flat, squirrel patch or a black, brown or blue injury.
When addressing color patients, Sugai said that BCC is commonly presented as a pigmented.
“It is usually hyperpigmented with a little mixed red and, over time, it will begin to be an eroded plate that will easily bleed,” he said.
According to Sugai, the first two decades of life are absolutely critical of solar protection.

Like other types of skin cancer, BCCs can later develop in life, after years of sun exposure, and treatment usually involves cutting the affected area of the skin completely.
It is common to see this type of cancer appear where the sun is struck on the skin (neck, arms, face and head), but that does not mean that other parts of the body cannot achieve it.
